Parrots
Crouch, tap a parrot and turn it into your DJ.
🦜 Parrot DJ
What it does
This add-on turns Minecraft parrots into music players. Crouch, interact with one and a menu opens so you can pick what plays. The music comes from the parrot itself, loops on its own, and nearby parrots catch the mood with floating music notes.
Two packs in one file
A behavior pack with the scripts and a resource pack with the sounds. Both are enabled together.
Your music, your rules
Songs are added as .ogg files and registered in a config file.
Features
Everything the add-on does, based on its code.
“Parrot DJ” menu
A form with a song list and a field to paste a link.
Paste a link
The text is compared as-is against a table of registered links. If it matches, its song plays; if not, you get a red warning.
Stop music
The first option in the list, “(Stop music)”, cuts that parrot’s sound.
Automatic looping
When the configured duration ends, the song starts over.
Sound from the parrot
Music plays at the parrot’s position at high volume, so it gets louder the closer you are.
Music notes
Every second a note particle appears above the parrot that is playing.
Nearby parrots join in
Parrots within 24 blocks also release notes. It is a visual effect: the audio comes from the parrot you chose.
Several parrots at once
Each parrot has its own song and dimension. If a parrot disappears, its music is cleaned up automatically.
Stays out of the way
It only acts while you crouch. Opening the menu prevents sitting the parrot or feeding it.
How to use it
Pick your platform.
Set up songs
Songs and links live in scripts/config.js.
Add the audio
Save the file in LorosMusica_RP/sounds/musica/ as .ogg (Vorbis).
Define it as a sound
Add an entry to sound_definitions.json.
"loros.cancion3": {
"category": "music",
"sounds": [{ "name": "sounds/musica/cancion3", "stream": true }]
}Register it in config.js
Set the name, the id and the duration in seconds. To use a link, map it to that id.
CANCIONES: { nombre: "Canción 3", soundId: "loros.cancion3", duracionSeg: 210 }
LINKS: "https://open.spotify.com/track/MI_LINK": "loros.cancion3"Link tester
Simulates what the menu would do with the example configuration.

A loop running every tick goes through the active parrots: it plays the sound, schedules the repeat and spawns note_particle particles every second.
To stop, it runs the stopsound command with the song id.
CANCIONES lists name, sound id and duration (two by default, 180 and 200 seconds).
LINKS maps a text or link to a sound id.
RADIO_LOROS sets the reach of the parrots that join in: 24 blocks.
The behavior pack is a JavaScript script module that needs @minecraft/server and @minecraft/server-ui at version 2.0.0, plus the resource pack.
It requires minimum engine 1.21.100 and both packs are at version 1.0.0.
Declares loros.cancion1 and loros.cancion2 in the music category, with stream: true so the whole audio is not loaded into memory.
Installation
Add your songs
Copy cancion1.ogg and cancion2.ogg into LorosMusica_RP/sounds/musica/.
Package it
Zip the two folders and rename the file to .mcaddon, or use the included one and replace the audio files.
Open it with Minecraft
Both packs are imported.
Enable them in your world
Enable the behavior pack and the resource pack. If your version asks for it, turn on “Beta APIs” under Experiments.
Limits to keep in mind
Links are not streamed live
Minecraft cannot stream Spotify or YouTube. A link works as a shortcut to audio already included in the add-on.
The add-on ships without songs
The music folder only holds instructions. Without your own .ogg files nothing will play.
The example links are placeholders
Replace them with your own in config.js. Use music you have the right to use.
Neighbor parrots only make notes
They don’t play audio of their own, only particles.
State lives in memory
If the world or the scripts reload, you need to start the music again.
In-game text is in Spanish
The menu labels and chat messages are written in Spanish in main.js. You can edit them to translate them.
